Is Jupiter more of a boys name or a girls name?

It was on a list of boys names but I kind of like it as a girls name. What do you think?

I see it as more of a girls name.


Usually girls names are more exotic, I could see how a boy would be teased more with that name.
Reply:It's not a name, it's a word. I am waiting for parents to start naming their spawn Cutlery or Rage or Potatoes. Seriously, it's terrible. I can hear, "Jupiter, Poopiter" on the playground now.


But, if you insist, girls can get away with stupid names better than boys can. No one will want to hire a guy named Jupiter. And please, please give her a real middle name, like Elizabeth or something so she can hide that name when she grows up.
Reply:I think it's not a good name for a person....especially a little girl. Imagine at graduation when your daughter is valedictorian and they call Jupiter (your last name here). Or a cheerleader or soccer player named Jupiter. I would, not to be rude, suggest getting a dog or a cat and naming it that. It's not a good name, sorry.
Reply:i think it is more of a girls name. however i agree with many people i dont know if it really is a good persons name. i know when i was little i would have made fun of someone. that is just how kids are.

Reply:It's a boys name, the planet was named for the Roman deity. He equals Zeus in Roman mythology, so it's a very masculine character. Not really something you should name a "mortal", boy or girl.





Juniper would be more suitable for a girl.
Reply:It is a masculine name. Jupiter was the chief God of the Romans (equal to Zeus of the Greeks). It is also kind of a fruity, hippie name. Name your pet Jupiter, not your kid.

I haven't heard of Jupiter, but I have heard of Juniper..which really isn't much better.
Reply:I think you must be kidding to name your kid after the largest planet -- the one with the big red spot. You want her called "JU or Jupe" for short?
