What do you think of Grant for a boys name?

Grant is a wonderful name. It sounds like a powerful, masculine name. Puts me in the mindset of a very personable, witty, young executive. Loving life!!! Go for it!

Matter you wouldn't want to name him Grant, but otherwise I think it is a wonderful name, very strong sounding.

Reply:I love it. I needed to name my eldest son with a name that started with G. (Family tradition). I guess Goober was a poor choice.

He might get picked on in the South. General Grant was in charge of the Northern Army in the Civil War.

My 5 year old son is Grant. (His twin is Audrey Anna)


The name is not overly popular, trendy, or too unusual.


The name is strong and solid.





Also love the name Graham, Graeme. I've met a little boy with this name. Has a softer feel, more of a gentleman.

Reply:I love it. Probably because I know a 4 year old boy with that name and he is just the sweetest kid I've ever had the pleasure to meet so I associate that name with him.
Reply:It's almost always been kindof an unusual name and certainly is liked by many women for many years (see graph at link below). Just not a name I would pick myself, but I've known one or two Grants over the years.
Reply:I love it ! Grant sounds like a 'great, grand man' . I think of and 'grand slam home run' ( for a boy) and 'grant me a wish' ( for his sweetheart) - all positive associations. I would think it would be a great name for a boy to have throughout life. If he has grandchildren he can be "Grant-pa" ..fun


An important thing, especially for a boy, is that it sounds well with the last name. A good overall name is an advantage in life.

To be honest, it kind of has a preppy feel to it, but definitely in a good way. It's really quite masculine and strong-sounding.
