What do you think of my baby boys name?

What do you think of my baby boys name? I'm naming him Gavin Charles Lee after my cousin Gary Lee and best friend Kevin Charles who have passed away within the last couple years. I think it's a great name however, my family don't I like it becuase he will be named after deceased people and they think it's improper to have two middle names.

I think its a great name!


I don't know what they mean by 'improper'. It gives the child a chance to choose what he wants to be called when he is older.


It's not just naming the baby after deceased people its giving your child a name that you love, that means something to you.
Reply:I really like it a lot. I have a son who's middle name is after someone his dad and I worked with but passed away before he was born. He was the nicest guy and he died of a brain tumor. I don't think it's bad to name someone after someone who has passed away. I also don't think it's bad to give your baby two middle names. You also have to do what you think is right because it is your baby and if you love the name, that is all that matters. I also think it is nice to honor someone in a name! Good luck!
Reply:I like it. And there is nothing wrong with having two middle names. I know little boys that have two first names and I thought nothing of it. Its also a wonderful idea to name your baby after a friend and a cousin who are no longer with us. You can tell the story to your child when he's old enough, as to how you decided on his name. And there are lots of people who name their children after deceased grandparents and great grandparents, so I see nothing wrong with it at all.
Reply:firstly it's not improper to have more than one middle names, royalty and stately people have many middle names





Secondly I do understand what they mean by being named after the deceased


Personally I would maybe use the name Gavin (combination of the two) and have that as a middle name then have another name as a first name and maybe another middle name





There again, it's your decision completly and you need to feel 100% sure so its up to you
Reply:I don't see a problem with 2 middle names, especially where you have them to honor people, and not just "because I can't decide!"


I think that Gavin Charles Lee is a fabulous name--you should definitely keep it. Just remind folks that it's your baby, and you're the one who will have to listen to him complain if they're right and he hates his name.

Reply:It is great, I think it is more of an honor than something negative that your family is making it out to be. It is your and your spouses decision so do what you guys want to do, no matter what they think. If you are also hung up on the double middle name thing why don't you combind them like Charlees Or Learles or Lee-Charles? LOL Sorry if they sound goofy, but work on it!
Reply:I think it's great. I love all those names. And I don't think it's "improper" to have two middle names. I am fighting with MYSELF (lol) right now, because I want my next child, if a girl, to have my middle name (Linn) and also my moms (Rena) so I'm stuck as what to do. Reply:Its not 'improper ' to have 2 middle names. In fact Prince Charles has about 4 or 5. Why do you discuss names with your family anyway. It should be private between you and your husband and after the baby is born, you make the announcement of his name! If they dont like it too bad.I think it is a nice tribute to your cousin and friend. Plus it isnt after two dead people , it is after the mayor of San Francisco tell them! That ought to shut them up.! LOL

It could be Gavin Charles Lee or Gavin Lee Charles....There is nothing wrong with giving your child 2 middle names....My daughter has 2 middle names....Kaylee Ann Lacy....KAY- is my middle name, LEE is my older brothers middle name, ANN is my moms middle name, LACY is my younger brothers name....he hates it but he was named after his grandfather....Lacy Earl, he only went by Earl....But Shawn Lacy sounded better than Shawn Earl....lol

Its your child, not your families.


Just name him and then introduce hum as gavin after he is born. Don't give them the option of telling you what to name your child. This reason is why im not telling any of my family except OH what my child will be named :)

Reply:i think its a wonderful name. i have a stillborn brother whose middle name is howard after my pa who passed away before he was born, and it doesnt matter what your family thinks about the name their still going to love and adore the baby(i hope) and i'm named after a friend of my moms who was killed when she was 16 and i think its an honor. and i know a ton of people with two middle names it is not improper.

Reply:I think that's a great idea, and also a very nice name. It flows well and has a great and special meaning. I don't think there's anything wrong with having two middle names, in fact, it's becoming more-and-more popular.
Reply:I really like the name Gavin. It is a little long to have two middle names but I know people who have dealt with it being theirs. It's a nice gesture and at least when people ask he'll have a story to tell about the double naming.
Reply:he is your son, name him whatever you like. every one on earth has a name that was most likely used by some one now deceased. George (Washington/Bush) John (Adams/Kennedy) Robert (E. Lee/ me B.) etc. Just don't name him Sue.
