Why do some say Juno is a boys name?

I named my mare Juno and i've had a couple people tell me that Juno is a boys name which is odd because the definition of Juno is:

The principal goddess of the pantheon and the wife of Jupiter, worshiped as the goddess of women, marriage, childbirth and the moon, and as the protector of the state. She came to be identified with the Greek Hera.

I didn't name her after that, I just liked the name. But i'm just curious why some say its a boys name?

Why do some say Juno is a boys name?
People who don't know Roman mythology might say boy because of the "O" at the end. But "Juno" was the Roman queen-goddess, the wife of Jupiter, her Greek counterpart is Hera, the wife of Zeus. Juno is completely a female name.
Reply:Curiously, i have a mare named Juno aswell. I never really though it was a popular name. I've never had your problem, but now as i think about it, i guess the name sounds a little like John? :D Some people might somehow make the connection.
Reply:Probably because it ends in "O"...you know, like masculine/feminine words in other languages? Anna, Jenna, Lena, Christina - girl names Marco, Rodrigo, Santiago, can't-think-of-any-more-o - boy names
Reply:because names ending in "O" are usually boys names. Girls names usually end in "A". Antonio vs Antonia
Reply:because it's not common so they assume it's a boy, unless they saw the movie '' juno''.lol
Reply:Probably Hispanic friends? Names ending in O are boys, A are girls.
Reply:beacuse its a two way name =]
Reply:i agree with Gatsbi00...and cassie :)
