Is this more of a boys name or a girls name?

Ashton. My hubby likes this name for a boy and there is an actor with this name(Ashton Kutcher, if you didn't know already) but I use to babysit a girl named Ashton and I don't know if I like it for a boy now.

Do think this name is better for a boy or a girl?

I was thinking maybe I could use Asher instead. What do you think of this name?

Is this more of a boys name or a girls name?
Ashton and Asher are both boy names to me.
Reply:Ashton is a boys name, pretty common, a top 125 name

Ashton is on the top 1000 girl, it is rank 778

I agree with your husband, it's way to common of a boys name for a girl

Asher is less common of a boys name, a top 250 boys name

Asher never made the girl top 1000 girl name. I see Asher only as a boys name, sorry

How about Aisling or Ashlyn they means dream

Or Ansley/Ainsley or Avery they are unisex names that start with an a, and are more girlie

I went to school with a girl name Michael, there are two actress name Michael, so that three females I know with the name. It does not make Michael a girl name

Ashton and Asher are boys name, not unisex. Just like Logan, just because people name their girl that does not make it a unisex name

Asha -g means hope

Ashera -g - means fortunate; blessed like Asher

Ashira -g - wealthy

Ashley -u -ash wood

Ashlin -g -dream
Reply:I know a little boy named Ashton and an adult female named Asher, so I automatically assume those sexes when I hear those names, but it is what you want it to be. I think they are both beautiful and unique names.
Reply:I like Ashton as either a boy's name or a girl's name. Asher's a good compromise if you think Ashton's too feminine, though. I personally think it sounds a little old-fashioned but, since it's not my kid, if you like it, go for it!
Reply:i know a little girl named ashton as well, but my opinion i find it better for a boy. im not really sure how i feel about asher, but i know i like ashton better
Reply:asnton is a guys name my friends little brother's name is ashton and since its an uncommon name and the only ashton most people know is a guy, it is most likely considered a guys name
Reply:I like Ashton on a boy and a girl, but i'm not to keen on Asher.

Go with Ashton, i think it's more unique, especially on a girl :)

Good Luck :D x
Reply:When I first heard the name, it was for a girl that I knew. Then I heard about Ashton Kutcher. I think it could go either way. Asher is cute too.
Reply:Ashton can actually go both ways, and it's very cute either way. Asher, eh I don't think that's more of a boys name. But It's your choice. I hope I helped.
Reply:Those are at least in the US unisex names Ashton is used commonly for both boys and girls, but Asher is a little more masculine.
Reply:Ashton is cute for both. My sons name is Skyler which can also be a girls name and he loves his name. I was some what affraid he would get picked on but he is in middle school and no one has done so this far!
Reply:It can be either. I know a girl Ashton. I personally think it's a cute girl's name.

Answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Reply:Don't use Asher it sounds kinda strange. But Ashton is a unisex name because I used to know a girl named Ashton. I like it as a guys name though.
Reply:I like Ashton for a boy. The "ton" at the end indicates that it's more of a boy's name.

I really don't like Asher. Sorry!

Good luck
Reply:Ashton and Asher are both boy's names.

I dislike them both, but Ashton is far worse.

Sorry for my brutal honesty.

Reply:Ashton can be used for both boys and girls, but Asher is deffinitly for a boy... If you like Asher but need a girls name try Ashliegh/Ashley, Ash for short
Reply:Ashton sounds much more like a boys name to me. And so does Asher.

How about something like Ashley, Ashleigh, Ashlee or Ashlyn.
Reply:Ashton is more of a boy's name. Ashley is more of a girl's. Asher seems more unique.
Reply:I usually like "boy" names on girls, like Riley and Blake... but Ashton sounds completely masculine to me...
Reply:Ashton could go either wayy (I prefer it 4 a boy!) Asher is deffinatelyyyy a boys name...so u could use it. If I were you I would use Ashton over Asher, but its your choice.
Reply:Ashton is a boy's name. I'd go with Asher it's more unusual but that's just my preference.

Aspen would be more of a girl's name.

Hope I help
Reply:It sounds way better on a boy.

I like the names Jamie, and Coral for girls.
Reply:Ashton is a boy's name, but not a very good one - try Bruce instead, or Oliver.
Reply:I think it goes great either way! I have an old friend who is a guy named Asher, but it would also sound great for a girl.
Reply:I think it's more for a boy but it all depends on who you know who has the name.
Reply:I think Ashton is a boys name! I like it! I also like Asher
Reply:I've met a couple boy Ashtons, no girl-Ashtons yet. I don't think it really matters for this particular name.
Reply:Ashton it better and sounds like a boii
Reply:Ashton sounds feminine to me and I don't like Asher.
Reply:not Asher! I think Ashton is a boys name!
Reply:I think of them as boy names.
