What do you think of Damien for a boys name?

My husband and I really like the name Damien. I'm a little weary becasue of the Omen movie... what do you think? We were also thinking of Damon as a variation.

I like it. I don't think the stigma that went along with it many years ago exists today. Damien is a nice name and so is Damon. Do whatever you like, it doesn't really matter what other people think of your child's name.

Reply:I really like the name Damien! If you are really uncomfortable with the name because of the move The Omen, then yes I think Damon is a great variation.
Reply:Well, you weary feeling hasn't gone without purpose. The name without reference to it usage sounds like a good name. But like your already aware, the boy will hear the jokes about the movie quite often. If you name hime this or anything else familiar in society, be prepared to hear the jokes, cheer him up when the name bothers hime, and explain to him that it isn't the movie that inspired the name. My best suggestion is to come up with a less provactive name.
Reply:i love that name. i was gonna name my baby that if she was a boy but i was gonna spell it damyen. either way i think its a great name and the meaning of it isnt demonic like the movie makes it out to be.

Reply:People will always say, "Oh, like in The Omen," and you have to decide if it bothers you. It's a great name. Damon is also a great name. Devon is cool, too.

Reply:I think its a cute name and you dont hear it ver often. I only know of 1 Damien and no it wasnt from the one on the Omen. Damon is cute. You could also spell it Damen meaning taming.
Reply:LOL its okay to name him that. The name Damien has been around since before the movie but you can choose another name to make yourself feel more comfortable.
Reply:makes me think of the devil(and the omen!) My sister-in-law almost had her baby on June 6th, 2006-(6-6-06) and they joked about naming him Damien, but he was born on 6-7-06. I would reconsider the name.

Reply:I really like Damien, and I haven't heard of anyone I know named Damien getting teased about it.





Damon is okay, but that reminds me more of Demon than Damien does.

So, for many years I thought I'd have a Damian...





Then it became very popular and still is...


It's Greek %26amp; means "Taming" by the way.





I'd try for something more original but similar...





Daimon means "Guardian Angel"





Darian means dear/beloved





Daurian means "golden"

ends in ian---and has 3 syllables.

Reply:100 % yes My Husband loves the name. He wanted to name our son that however at the last minute we changed the name. So I'm voting for him.

Reply:Hmmm, I dont really like it but its completely your descision you can call him Dwayne, if you like it to start with the letter "D", i like that 100 times better. But if u dont believe in taht movies and things like taht then it shouldnt matter much to you.

Some wise cracker will probably make the Damon-Demon connection at some point. If you're ok to deal with that, go ahead.
