What are some uncommon, classical middle names to match this boys' name?

I've been searching for a middle name for Rhys, but I haven't found anything I liked yet. I was considering Rhys Everett, but Everett sounds too "sing-songy" with our last name.

Do you have any suggestions? No filler middle names.

Thanks. :)

I do like the idea of using a family name for a middle name; it narrows down the pool of choices, it gives the name an extra special meaning, and it keeps it from being just "filler."

I'm not sure which boys' middle names you consider to be "filler," but to me the prime examples are Michael, James, Christopher, and Alexander, so I'll avoid suggesting those.

Is there any way you could give us a name that sounds similar to your last name? That would be helpful in trying to come up with good combinations. Without knowing that, though, here are some names I like:

Rhys Maximilian

Rhys Nehemiah

Rhys Julian

Rhys Gabriel

Rhys Alasdair

Rhys Hadrian

Rhys Tobiah

Rhys Marlowe

Rhys Abdiel (an angel in Milton's Paradise Lost)

Rhys Adriel (a biblical name meaning "of God's flock")

Rhys Martin

If you want to stick with a Welsh theme:

Rhys Ellis

Rhys Madoc

Rhys Gavin

Rhys Padrig

Rhys Gawain (GOW-in)

Rhys Owain (O-wien

Rhys Andreas

(EDIT: Hee hee. I think I was right about my guess of what constitutes a "filler" middle name. I just read back through all the answers and realized Gracelyn listed three of my four examples.)
Reply:What was (and still is) a classic middle name for a male child is the Mother's maiden name (therefore carrying on her family name as well). The same can be said of the Mother's Grandmother's maiden name. This usually honors the relative who you choose to bestow their family name, to your son.

Have a lovely rest of the evening. CONGRATULATIONS on your Son.

Sorry got a little carried away but there are some names that I like with Rhys.
Reply:I love Rhys Michael, Rhys Christopher, or Rhys Alexander. I'm all about original first names but think a strong, traditional middle name balances it out. Good luck!
Reply:Why don't you give the baby his grandfathers first name for a middle name? It's a lovely honor for granddad and it will sound nice no matter what it is!
