I have a long, uncommon last name. What type of boys first name should I choose?
Short name? Simple name? Long, uncommon name?
I'd love some suggestions too.
I have a long, uncommon last name. What type of boys first name should I choose?
A one syllable name like:
James
John
Mark
Tai
Chad
Sean/Shaun/Shawn
Shane
Reply:Something that flows (long medium or short). If you pick long choose something that can be shortened and ensure that flows. Go for something that is not necessarily top 10 or can be shortened various ways.

Reply:Might help if you told us your name. It depends...do you like that your name is long and uncommon? My name is on the shorter side and very common...and I have chosen longer, more uncommon names for my kids. So...I went the opposite of what I was given, hehe. Although I don't think our names clash or anything either. It's really just a matter of your preference. Myself, I prefer more uncommon names (whether longer or shorter). For example, I love the name Stella (which is on the short side and is uncommon), and I also love the name Gwendolyn (uncommon, but much longer). Anyway, I don't know if that helps you.... but good luck!!!
Reply:Even worse, I grew up with an 8 letter last name that was one syllable, but nobody could pronounce it correctly. Glad I am female and married someone with a normal last name lol.
I'd definitely go with an easy first name so your poor kid won't be tormented all his life with nobody able to spell either of his names. Names like Jackson, James, Evan, Brian, Caleb, Cody.. they're all pretty hard to screw up.
Reply:Probably shouldn't have named our twins with L's since our last name starts with an L, but their names sound so cute together and go good with our last name which is also longer, 10 letters.
Landen Thomas is our sons name and Lauren Rose is our daughters name.
They might not like us when they get old enough and have to write their names or spell them, but hopefully it grows with them.
Reply:If you have a long uncommon last name then definitely a short, common name for a first name is a good idea. Someone should have told my mom that when I was born. :)
I had to legally change mine. It was too much work always explaining or spelling it to people.
Reply:Something simple enough to spell and pronounce since the last name is more uncommon...

Congrats!%26gt;=)
Reply:It depends on how many syllables your last name has. Sometimes it's easier to give name suggestions if you know what name you are matching it with. Many syllable last names flow better with shorter syllable first names and shorter syllable last names sound good with longer first names. :)
Reply:Don't have a long uncommon name. It'll make things too complicated for the kid later in life. How about:
Steven
Eli
Daniel
Ethan
Harry
Charles (Charlie)
William (Billy, Will)
Francis (Frankie)

Reply:when picking a name "flow" is important. Say a few together and see what combination seems to flow. To me if your last name is 3 syllables its seems a two syllable name or less seems to flow better ex josh, Alex etc

Reply:Hahah.....me too. Three sylables, and people can never say it. I'd go for a first name that's easy to spell, and pronounce. And something that doesn't start with the first letter of your last name.
Reply:Short one or two syllable first names would go better with a long last name; ethan, trent, trevor, shawn, or maybe a family last name like West, Gray, Payne. I just like names that are different from everyone else.

What do you think of this boys name?
Allan Justin?
No changes in the spelling AT ALL
how does it sound to you?
What do you think of this boys name?
It's cute, and it sounds good, usually 2 names that end in the same letter don't sound good or flow good but these do, :D.
Reply:I presume you're not in the UK as both names are a bit outdated here now (very 1970's) but it sounds OK together. We have a very funny presenting duo called Alan and Justin.
Depends on your surname too! AJ quite cute as a nickname.
Reply:I like Justin Allan better, it has a better flow. It all depends on what the last name is, and what the initials will be. You don't want the initials to spell disaster for the child in school.
Reply:sounds country
Reply:i like the name a lot.
i would prefer different spelling on the first name if it were my child, but that ones not too bad =].
very cute.

Reply:I personally don't like any of those names, nor the one you've already chosen. But I expect when I have kids some people won't like my name choices either! It's all about personal choice. So..... I'm a teacher and once worked in a class where there were 2 boys called Bailey and Bayley. Whichever spelling you prefer (if I had to choose I'd choose Bailey), it goes quite well with Bentley if you want to have 2 'B' names.

Is Peppi a good name for a female toy poodle? Or would you say it's more a boys name?
Thanks
Is Peppi a good name for a female toy poodle? Or would you say it's more a boys name?
I think that's a really cute name for a female toy poodle!
Reply:I would say it more a boy's name. Maybe if you squeeze in an "a" or an "l" in the name it'll become more feminine.
Reply:i dont think so he wont respond to ur comands as much. i wanted to name my poodle mini but my dad said if u have the "S" sound in the same like "Sparky" they do better in training and stuff. it works my dad has had 3 dogs before my dog sparky.
Reply:I THINK THATS A GOOD NAME . MY MOM HAD ONE AND HER WAS PRESHIS
Reply:It makes me think of Pepe le Pew - the skunk from the old cartoons. It's your dog, you can name it whatever you want.
